Florida District 1 Umpires return from Regional Assignments

Three of our own Umpires successfully represented the District at their respective Southeastern Regional Tournaments.

Howard Wortman (5thfrom R), Destin Little League, travelled to Kernersville, NC for the Intermediate Baseball Division. The team from Alabama won the Regional and went on to win the Intermediate Division World Series.

Tony Weaver (4thfrom R), Shalimar Little League and District UIC, went to Broadway, VA for the Junior League Baseball Division. The team from Viera Suntree Little League in Florida won the Regional and then lost 7-2 to the West Region in the United States Championship game.

Jessi Vikara (front row left), District Umpire at large, received her assignment to the Senior Division Softball tournament in Salisbury, NC. PAL Little League from Florence, SC edged out a strong Florida team to take the Regional Championship. That team finished the World Series with a 3-3 record.

Congratulations to our umpires for receiving these assignments and performing well!

If you or someone you know is interested in working some of these higher level tournaments, reach out to your local Umpire in Chief or any Board Member!
