Five umpires from Florida District 1 traveled to Warner Robins, GA this past weekend for an opportunity to advance their skillset by attending the annual 2-Umpire Mechanics Clinic held by the Southeast Region Volunteer Umpire Staff. This two-day training focuses on all principles of field mechanics and facets of the two-umpire system. Detailed plate mechanics were covered in cage sessions which were recorded and available to each student after the Clinic. Additional mechanics were covered in various drills and sessions. The classroom sessions provided tools and tips to improve each umpire's game as well as a review of recent rule changes. The attendees were also welcomed to the clinic with a surprise; our own District 1 UIC, Bill Vikara was a guest instructor for the event!
